New type of number plate for vehicles is launched today. This is retro-reflective number plate; it will also have radio frequency identification (RFID) tag. The authority is hoping that it will bring discipline in this sector. Digital registration certificates are also to be given in this scheme.
Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) is responsible for conducting the registration process. This hi tech number plate and digitization will ensure transparency and accountability of BRTA.
This hi tech number plates are being prepared by Bangladesh Machine Tools Factory which is run by Bangladesh Army.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina launched this hi tech number plates today. She termed this launching as the new era for the transport sector.
Gradually all the vehicles will have to take this hi tech number plates.
