He pointed out that constitutionally, if the Speaker or Deputy Speaker is unavailable or unable to perform the duty, or if their nominated representative is not present, the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) can administer the oath to the elected MPs.

Accordingly, he said, the elected MPs will be sworn in in Parliament at 10:00 am on Tuesday, which falls under the constitutional jurisdiction of the CEC.

Earlier, another member of BNP’s standing committee, Ameer Khasru Mahmood Chaudhary, also spoke to reporters.
