The fire broke out in a multi-storey residential building in Gulshan-2 at around 7 pm.
Sub-Inspector (SI) of Gulshan police station Sujan Chandra De told Pratham Aalo that many families live in a 12-storey building at Road No. 104 of Gulshan-2. The extent of the damage was not immediately known.
Inspector Amirul Islam of Gulshan police station, who was present on the spot, first told Aalo that smoke is coming out of the building and many people are suspected to be trapped in the building.
He said law enforcers are trying their best to rescue the trapped people.
