After India increased the ban on onion export, onion prices have started increasing in the local market.

Since the major source of onion import has closed, onion has to be imported from alternative countries.

But due to the restrictions imposed by India, prices have started increasing in alternative markets also.

India has extended a ban on onion exports by three months to curb prices and increase supplies in local markets.

The Commerce Department in India said on Thursday that the ban on onion exports will remain in effect till March 31.

However, early harvest of onion (Muricata) has started in the south-western region of the country. But these onions cannot be stored and the production is also not much.
