Outgoing Social Welfare Minister occupies two government residences: Violation of ministerial residence rules

After becoming the Social Welfare Minister, Nuruzzaman Ahmed got a 5000 square feet flat in the Minister Apartment located on Bailey Road in the capital.

Additionally, he also occupies another government residence of similar size. For the past five years, he lived in one of these houses, while his relatives lived in the other.

According to the Ministers, Ministers of State and Deputy Ministers Act, a Minister is entitled to free furnished accommodation at public expense.

However, according to sources in the Government Housing Directorate, Nooruzzaman Ahmed allegedly violated this rule by occupying two houses.

Despite this violation, Housing Directorate officials could not take any action or raise concerns in the last five years.
