The Bangladesh Shop Owners Association said the prices of 29 food products, including fish, meat, eggs, pulses and vegetables set by the Department of Agricultural Marketing (DAM) at the producer, wholesale and retail levels are absurd.
The association also said that the prices estimated by DAM at the producer level are a figment of their imagination.
The shop owners' association demanded suspension of the price chart imposed by the agricultural marketing department as the authority set the prices without doing adequate investigation and without considering various issues related to the prices of the products.
