The United States and Iran are reaching an agreement on a one-page memorandum to end the war in the Gulf, a source in Pakistan, the mediator familiar with the talks, said.

The Pakistani source said an earlier report by US media outlet Axios on the proposed memorandum was accurate. The Axios report cited two US officials and two other sources familiar with the discussions.

“We will close it soon. We are getting closer to it,” the Pakistani source said.

Axios reported on Wednesday that the White House believes it is working on a one-page memo to end the war with Iran after the US.

Resident Donald Trump halted a three-day naval mission to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Axios reports that the US expects an Iranian response on several key points in the next 48 hours. The US State Department and the White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Among other provisions, Axios said, the deal would see Iran commit to a freeze on nuclear enrichment, the US agree to lift its sanctions and release billions of dollars in frozen Iranian funds, and both sides lift restrictions on transit through the Strait of Hormuz.
