This was not the first incident of its kind; A similar microphone interference was recorded on 12 March, causing a suspension of approximately 40 minutes.
After the Maghrib recess the Speaker addressed the House about the cause of the breakdown, citing two primary factors. Firstly, during the public revolt of July 2024, parliamentary furniture was damaged by an angry mob. Secondly, there appears to be no valid warranty or adequate documentation for the installation of the current microphone system.
Chairman Hafiz Uddin Ahmed said that there was negligence in the installation. Parliamentary officials contacted the company that carried out the work but they are not interested in repairing it.
He said the local company involved is often shirking responsibility, displaying a lack of accountability.
