Amid the change in weather, the problems of the people in Khulna Medical College Hospital have come to a head due to the increasing number of patients, while the government hospital is chilling due to lack of beds, doctors and medical equipment.
KMCH, one of the most trusted medical facilities for the people of the area, remains very busy throughout the year. It is now so overcrowded that officials have kept patients on the floor and in corridors.
According to KMCH director Dr MD Robiul Hasan, doctors treat around 2,000 outpatients daily, apart from 1,500 patients admitted in the 500-bed hospital.
The corridor on the first floor of the hospital was packed with patients, relatives and their belongings on Monday. Crowd and dust are worsening the condition of many patients.
The corridors of the medicine and surgery wards and the space in front of the lift, the blood bank and the doctors’ rooms were also full of patients, who complained that they were not getting proper treatment at the hospital.
