Brazilian football superstar Pele, 82, was showing “progressive recovery” after being admitted to hospital last week, according to a medical report released on Tuesday.
Medical staff at Sao Paulo’s Albert Einstein Hospital told reporters that Pelé was also being treated for a respiratory infection, remained in a regular hospital room with stable vital signs and was conscious.
One of the greatest footballers of all time, Pele had a tumor removed from his colon last September and has been regularly receiving medical care for the ailments.
“There is a steady improvement in the general condition of the patient, especially the respiratory infection,” the doctors said in a statement.
