He said, “People say that our expectations were not fulfilled. Even today people said this while coming from the airport. We told them, do not be disappointed. We will continue the struggle for the liberation of the people of Bangladesh.”
Describing the local body elections as the second battle, Shafiqur Rahman said, “Now our second battle will start in the local body elections. Not a single post should remain vacant in this battle. In those places, we want to bring forward those good people of the society who have risked their lives and stood with us in this election and handed over those posts.”
He expressed hope, “It is not necessary that our Amirs or Secretaries should be on those posts. Whoever is more dear to the people for that job, we will present him to the people. We will look at only two things. One is whether the person has patriotism, and second is whether the person is honest and not corrupt. If we get these two things, then it is enough. Insha Allah, we will be able to give something good to the people of the country.”
