Zafarullah Chaudhary breathed his last at 11 pm on Tuesday night during treatment at the Gonosthasthya Nagar Hospital in Dhanmandi. He was 81 years old. He was suffering from kidney related problems for a long time.
Dr Zafarullah Chowdhary was a vascular surgeon and public health expert. He along with others established the Bangladesh Field Hospital in India for the injured freedom fighters and Bangladeshi refugees during the freedom struggle.
Dr Zafarullah was also instrumental in formulating the Bangladesh National Drug Policy in 1982.
