Pitha fest or Pitha Utshab ends today

PithaRice is the staple food of the Bangladeshis. Bangladeshis like to eat Pitha and Pitha is a culture of the Bangladeshis. Rice, coconut, date juice, milk etc are the main ingredients of Pitha. It may sound simple, but making Paitha is not always simple. Special type of rice is required to make traditional delicious pithas. Otherwise it will not be tasty.

The winter is the season of pitha because date juice is available at this time. But the problem is, in the busy urban life many people don’t have enough time to make Pitha and many young women don’t know well about Pitha making. But most people still miss the days of Pitha fest during the winter, which is still common in rural Bangladesh.

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy is arranging Pitha fest in their premises every year, which is an opportunity for the city dwellers to taste traditional pitahs like, Nakshi Pitha, Puli Pitha, Pati Sapta, Bou Pitha, and many others. This year’s fest was started with thirty stalls on 24th January and will end today. So if you are keen to devour our traditional pithas, today is the last opportunity in this season and you can also learn how to make pitha at home from the fest.
