Sheikh Hasina said the Awami League government has also enacted a law for the creation of the Election Commission (EC) as it was earlier attached to the Prime Minister's Office.
“We have also made the Election Commission completely independent and have allocated separate funds for it,” he said. “It means we believe in it and the Awami League government can make it for this purpose,” he said.
Apart from ensuring the independence of the judiciary, the government has made the EC independent of the electoral system so that it can properly ensure the rights of the people.
