He also said that he would work to strengthen the activities of the Japan-Bangladesh Framework to enhance bilateral trade and commerce.

The Japanese envoy further said that he would work to strengthen economic and trade ties between the countries as well as bring more Japanese investments to Bangladesh.

On the Rohingya issue, he said that Bangladesh wants the Rohingyas to return to their homeland.

“Japan will look into the matter bilaterally and through the ASEAN forum,” he assured.

The envoy said his country would intensify humanitarian programs in Cox’s Bazar and Bhasan Char, while JICA is working with the UNHCR in this direction.

He said that some Japanese NGOs have been entrusted with the task of working in these areas.

The envoy said an agreement to strengthen aid is expected to be signed between the city of Narayanganj and the city of Naruto in Japan.

The meeting was largely attended by Ambassador M Ziauddin and PMO Secretary Mohd Salahuddin.
