The construction cost of the terminal is Tk 213.99 billion. Of this, Bangladesh government will bear Tk 50 billion and the remaining amount will be provided by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The terminal has been designed by globally renowned architect Rouhani Baharin, who also designed Changi International Airport in Singapore, the busiest airport in the world.

The other two terminals of the country’s main airport serve about 30,000 to 35,000 passengers daily. Thus, the airport serves approximately 8 million passengers annually.

According to CAAB, once the third terminal becomes operational it will be possible to serve an additional 12 million passengers every year.

The world-class terminal includes multi-storey car parking with a capacity of 1,044 cars. 37 airplanes can be parked simultaneously in this terminal. In addition, approximately 16 luggage belts will be installed in the third terminal in addition to four separate belts for overweight luggage. A corridor will connect the new terminal to the two old terminals.
