The Prime Minister said his government is providing free houses to landless and homeless people across the country with the aim of locating them.
“No one will remain homeless in Bangladesh,” he reiterated.
Sheikh Hasina said that her government is also building flats for slum dwellers.
He asked engineers to come up with plans to make houses and flats more livable at lower cost.
“We are doing everything with a focus on changing the fortunes of the people at the grassroots level. Let's perform our duties keeping this in mind,” he said.
The Prime Minister described engineers as the main driving force to transform Bangladesh into a developed, prosperous and smart Bangladesh by 2041, which means it will have a smart population, smart government, smart economy and smart society.
He said, “We are working to make Bangladesh a developed, prosperous and smart Bangladesh by 2041. You (engineers) are the main driving force to realize this vision.”
She lashed out fiercely at critics of the country's development.
“There are some people who criticize everything without any reason. We don't care who says what because we are committed to working for the welfare of the country and its people,” he said.
The Prime Minister said that BNP and its like-minded governments did nothing for the welfare of the people.
In this regard he said that after the 1975 changes, per capita income increased by only six US dollars by 1996.
He said, earlier the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had increased the per capita income from $97 to $277.
The Prime Minister said that his government has succeeded in giving Bangladesh the status of a developing nation in 2021 by carrying out large-scale development work, while the BNP has done nothing for the progress of the country.
