PM urges Canadian entrepreneurs to invest in Bangladesh

He appreciated Bangladesh’s progress in agriculture and education and also praised Sheikh Hasina for developing a large agricultural farm inside her residence Gana Bhavan complex.

In this context, Sheikh Hasina apprised the Canadian minister of the steps taken by her government to promote small farmers.

He said that the government provides them subsidy for irrigation, farm equipment and farm mechanization and helps under many other programmes.

The Prime Minister said, the government has started a micro-saving program and hence small farmers can save their money and also take loans from it.

He said that the government now gives importance to rain water harvesting and use of surface water instead of underground water for conservation of nature.

Regarding the Rohingya issue, the premier sought cooperation from development partners to repatriate the forcibly displaced Rohingya people to their homeland, Myanmar.

However, it sought their assistance to develop more areas in the island, Speech Four in Noakhali, to relocate more Rohingyas from Cox’s Bazar for their temporary shelter.
