Poland coach Czeslaw Michniewicz believes his team can lift the World Cup trophy in Qatar if they beat defending champions France in Sunday’s last-16 encounter.
The Poles reached the knockout rounds of the World Cup for the first time since 1986 after scraping through from Group C on goal difference despite losing 2–0 to Argentina in their final game.
“We weren’t ready to go home,” said Michniewicz, who took over the Poland job in January after Paulo Sousa left.
“If we win against France we can become the next world champions.
