Therefore, the Prime Minister urged the police to continue their efforts to involve people in policing activities through community policing and people-oriented initiatives like Open House Days.
Expressing the government’s strong stance against drugs, terrorism and corruption, he said that child marriage, violence against women and children, theft, dacoity, organized crime, juvenile gangs, financial fraud and many other criminal activities are present in the society.
Tariq Rehman said that common people are becoming victims of these crimes every day, adding that there is also concern among people about drug abuse and online gambling in the country.
“Therefore, it is necessary for the police to launch a campaign to control drug abuse by targeting drug suppliers and sources of drugs by strictly enforcing the law,” he said.
In the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), the Prime Minister said it has become necessary to further expand the integrated and effective use of emerging technologies, including the establishment of cyber policing, artificial intelligence (AI) and big data analytics to deal with multidimensional challenges.
He said that with this goal the government is committed to creating a modern technology based police system.
