Jayma Munmun, a student of Eden College and leader of Samajtantrik Chhatra Morcha, said, “We were heading towards the secretariat in a peaceful procession protesting against yesterday’s attack and demanding punishment for those involved in it. The police lathicharged, used water cannons and used stun grenades, injuring six to seven of us. We strongly condemn this attack. We will organize a protest rally at Raju Sculpture against this attack.
Clashes broke out in front of the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) building in Dhaka’s Motijheel area on Wednesday during protests over the inclusion of graffiti images with the word “tribal” in textbooks.
The victims allege that a group named Students for Sovereignty carried out this attack. Students for Sovereignty denied the allegation.
