“The court ordered BG Press to publish gazettes for Tariq and Zubeidah to appear in court,” he added.
The same court had issued arrest warrants against Tariq and Zubaida on November 1. But when they failed to surrender before the court, it ordered confiscation of their property on January 5.
Tariq, the son of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, has been living in London with his family since 2008.
The government sacked her in 2014 as she did not return to her workplace after taking leave.
ACC counsel Musharraf Hussain Kajol had earlier said that Tariq and Zubeidaa were named as fugitives in the case as they live abroad.
The ACC filed a case in 2007 at Dhaka’s Kafrul Police Station, accusing him of owning 48.15 million takas beyond his known sources of income, concealing asset information and amassing disproportionate assets.
Tariq’s mother-in-law Iqbal Mand Bano was named as the third suspect in the case. His name was later dropped from the case after his death.
