However, DMP sources said she may not allow BNP to hold the rally in Naya Paltan. Instead, the party may be requested to hold the rally at Suhrawardy Udyan or Golapbagh grounds near Syedabad Bus Terminal.
For this, the police can put the reason of traffic jam in the city in front of the party and say that a large number of people will reach Dhaka to participate in the rally.
DMP Joint Commissioner (Operations) Biplab Kumar Sarkar told Prothom Alo on Monday, “BNP has applied to the commissioner seeking permission to organize the rally. We are discussing the matter.”
He said the police had no negative attitude towards the BNP rally, but the force would maintain a tough stance to ensure the safety of city residents.
