Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has not yet reacted to the army chief’s statement. Jamaat’s general secretary Mia Ghulam Parwar said that they would ‘take some time’ before stating their stand in this regard.
Speaking to Prothom Alo in this regard, Mia Golam Parwar said, “He said this after careful consideration. We do not want to say anything in this regard right now. We have been saying from the beginning that some reforms are needed to ensure acceptable elections. After that, everyone will realize that a favorable environment is being created for the elections. Therefore, we are talking about giving some time to the interim government. It will be appropriate, neither too long nor too short.”
