The Saturday afternoon blackout, designed to protect attendances in the lower leagues, will remain in place, but for the first time, all matches except those scheduled for 3:00 pm on Saturday afternoon will be broadcast live.
The Premier League claims a four percent increase in live rights value compared to the previous process, but broadcasters will have to pay significantly less per game because they will show more matches each season.
Premier League chief executive Richard Masters said, “The outcome of this process underlines the strength of the Premier League.”
