Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Qazi Habibul Awal has dismissed speculation that the presidency is profitable and said there was no violation of law in the election of former ACC commissioner Mohammad Shahabuddin as the country’s next president.
Many took the opportunity to describe the office of the President as profitable and that a former commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is not eligible for the post as per Section-9 of the ACC Act, they said, adding the reality is quite the opposite.
