The Finance Minister has proposed to reduce the source tax rate on 60 essential commodities including paddy, rice, wheat, potato, livestock, poultry, fish, onion, garlic, ginger, salt, sugar, edible oil and seeds from 5 per cent, 2 per cent and 1 per cent to 0.5 per cent.
He said that in line with the election commitment of the democratic government, this measure will bring relief to the lives of people after years of uncontrolled price rise.
