According to JFCL, the factory’s ammonia plant has been facing a number of issues recently including excessive nitrogen wastage in the NG booster compressor.

The authorities informed Ingersoll Rand (India) Limited, an international air and gas compressor manufacturing company, to procure and replace the NG booster.

Later, the company sent a three-member team to inspect the factory, during which the “explosion” took place.

Production at the Jamuna Fertilizer Factory was slated to resume in December 2022 after a six-month stoppage due to a gas crisis.

Established in 1990, the factory produces 1,700 tonnes of urea per day. This fertilizer is supplied to 20 northern districts.
