Marking the 150th birth anniversary [this year] of Nobel laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore, a four-day programme began here in Dinajpur last Thursday.
The celebration, titled ‘Rabidra Mela’, is being hosted by Jatiya Rabindra Sangeet Sammilon Parishad’s Dinajpur unit at the local Shilpakala Academy.
Tagore enthusiasts from different districts including Dhaka, Jaipurhat, Thakurgaon, Panchagarh, Nilphamari, Rangpur, Faridpur, Patuakhali and Barisal have gathered here on the occasion.
The programme features Rabindra Sangeet, recitation, dance and play. Discussions on Tagore are also part of the event everyday.
A 200-page brochure on Tagore will be published marking the celebration.
A fair is also on at Shilpakala Academy premises.

Dr. Sanjida Khatun, president of Rabindra Sangeet Sammilon Parishad’s central wing and Md. Jamal Uddin Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner of Dinajpur, were present as special guests.
