Botanic Aroma is a Bangladeshi brand; some herbal cosmetics are manufactured and marketed under this brand name. It has BSTI certification also.
Some of its products were tested is BSTI lab and Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission lab. Some harmful chemicals and ingredients including mercury were found in their products.
Experts from of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) also opined that these chemicals have serious effect on human health. These may damage kidney, may harm fetus; which may result birth of physically impaired infant.
An executive magistrate AHM Anwar Pasha has conducted a drive at Botanic Aroma factory. Rapid Action Battalion personnel and BSTI officials were with the magistrate. The magistrate arrested nine people including the managing director of the company.
This company received BSTI certification but didn’t follow the safety guideline to manufacture cosmetic products.
