After the incident, the main accused Sohail Rana broke the window bars of the flat and ran away from the spot. His wife Swapna Akhtar was arrested from the spot, while Sohail Rana was arrested from Fatullah in Narayanganj later the same evening.
On Tuesday night, the child’s father filed a case against Sohail Rana and his wife Swapna Akhtar at Pallabi police station under the Prevention of Women and Child Repression Act. In a statement of the case, the father said he believed his daughter had been raped before the murder.
