At Shaheenur’s ancestral home, family members were seen crying in the courtyard. His elderly mother Hajera Begum used to faint again and again. Apart from them, Shaheenur’s mother-in-law Sheflur Nesa and sisters-in-law Noorjahan and Sufia Begum also started crying bitterly. No one could find words to console him.
“How will I bear the grief of losing four people at once?” Shefleur Nessa said. “My late son’s family has been completely destroyed.” Shaheenur’s mother said, “Who killed my beloved daughter? Why did they kill my three granddaughters? They came for two days after Eid. How was I to know that this would be our last meeting?”
Shaheenur’s husband Kamal Hussain had died due to electric shock about seven years ago. He used to go from one village to another in Raipur to earn his living and sell aluminum utensils. After his death, Shaheenur started living in Raipur with her four children. She worked as a domestic help and managed to keep her children in school with the support of relatives and local people.
