A mild cold wave is sweeping through some portion of the country including the capital, Rajshahi and Rangpur division. Temperature has dropped all over the country. Sun was not seen in many parts of the country since last few days.
Sky is remaining cloudy and dense fog decreased visibility drastically. Launch and ferries have been stuck for hours. Even Khulna City Corporation got stuck in mid river.
Buses and trucks are waiting on long queue at ferry terminals. Navigability of rivers decreases drastically in the winter and navigation mark for water vessels become so important in this time. But thick fog makes it very difficult to see.
Bangladesh Meteorological Department has forecasted further drop of temperature. More ‘cold wave’ is due on the first week of January.
Experts believe that global climate change and increased pollution is increasing fog in river basins.
