A robbery at St Eugene De Mazenod Catholic Church in Dhaka’s Nayanagar left a priest injured late Monday night.
Father Subash Gomes is currently undergoing treatment at Continental Hospital in Dhaka, confirmed police.
Vatara Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mazharul Islam said that around 2:30am two robbers broke into the church. As Father Gomes woke up and tried to intervene, they beat him and snatched his passport before fleeing with Tk 1.5-2 lakh.
The OC said a team is reviewing CCTV footage to identify the perpetrators.
No formal written complaint has been lodged yet, added the OC.
Law enforcement agencies have since strengthened their presence in the area and launched an investigation, confirmed officials.
