The Rohingyas made five demands at the rally:
“1. The return of the Rohingyas should take place in their original homeland of Arakan Rakhine in Myanmar.
2. Assurance of safety, security and respect in the coming summer.
3. Restored Myanmarese citizenship with full citizenship rights like the other 135 ethnic groups of Myanmar.
4. Let the Rohingyas return and live in Myanmar as before, peacefully co-existing with other ethnic groups as citizens.
5. Draw the attention of the international community and the United Nations Organization to take positive steps on repatriation.
Not a single Rohingya has gone back home in the last six years.
Myanmar agreed to take them back, but repatriation efforts failed several times due to a lack of trust among Rohingyas about their safety in Rakhine state.
