Russian regions bordering Ukraine have regularly accused Kiev’s armed forces of indiscriminate shelling and occasional cross-border infiltration by Ukraine-backed militants.
Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov accused Ukraine of firing “cluster weapons” in Saturday’s attack and said residential buildings were damaged.
“As a result of the cluster munitions attack, 6 civilians suffered shrapnel injuries,” he said in a social media update.
“The condition of one of the victims is very serious,” he wrote in a telegram.
