Top officials from energy ministries of south Asian countries have met in Dhaka to decide on the issues that will be discussed at a meeting of the ministers.
Bangladesh Power Division secretary Abul Kalam Azad said the officials met at the Ruposhi Bangla Hotel in Dhaka on Wednesday to explore ways to increase cooperation among countries under the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).

The SAARC countries, in addition to Bangladesh, are Afghanistan, Nepal, Pakistan, India, Bhutan, Maldives and Sri Lanka. No representative from Maldives, however, was present during Wednesday’s meet, Azad said.

Prime minister Sheikh Hasina, who is in charge of the energy ministry, will inaugurate the ministers’ meeting on Thursday.
