Earlier on Sunday, Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi told the media that the consignment of imported eggs would arrive in the country within this week.
Speaking to BSS, BPA President Suman Hauladar said, “Following our organisation’s appeal, we have received permission from DNCRP to sell eggs through truck sales at the price fixed by the government. Some of our entrepreneurs are taking up these operations. At present, truck sale of eggs has started in Kawaranbazar. Such operations will be expanded to 19 more points in the capital within this week.
He said that about 30,000 to 40,000 pieces of eggs will be carried in each truck and the sales campaign will be conducted at designated places. A consumer can purchase a maximum of 30 pieces of eggs.
The places where marginal farmers will sell eggs in the capital are: Opposite TCB Bhawan, Hatirapul Market, Shantinagar Market, Mohammadpur Town Hall Market and Agriculture Market, Shyamoli, Badda Notun Market, Segunbagicha, Sachivalaya, North Badda Market, Jatrabari Circle, Jigtala, Shankar Bus Stand, Motijheel, Uttara, Mirpur, Rampura Bazar, Shantinagar, Newmarket and Kamarangirchar.
