Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Turkey, Palestine and many other countries have expressed full support for Bangladesh’s candidature for the presidency of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA).
These assurances came when Bangladesh Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman held bilateral meetings with leaders of several major participating delegations on the sidelines of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) executive meeting on Palestine in Jeddah on Friday morning and discussed issues of common interest.
The list includes Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Waleed A. Elkhrezi, Turkey’s Deputy Foreign Minister Musa Kulkalikaya, Palestine’s Foreign Minister Versan Ohnes Vartan Aghabekian and Gambia’s Foreign Minister Sering Modou Njie, who is also the Chairman of the Executive Meeting.
The Government of Bangladesh has nominated Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman as Bangladesh’s candidate for the presidency of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly to be held in June.
