The Ijtema, which was held as a single event in previous years, was divided into two phases after followers of Maulana Kandhalvi and Maulana Mohammad Zubair got embroiled in a brawl.
Maulana Kandhalvi has not attended Ijtema in Bangladesh since 2019, but this year his sons Maulana Yusuf bin Saad Kandhalvi, Maulana Saeed bin Saad Kandhalvi, Maulana Ilyas bin Saad Kandhalvi and son-in-law Maulana Hasan are participating in the event. All of them along with the three sons of Maulana Saad reached Tongi on Thursday to preach to the congregation.
