Second phase of Vishwa Ijtema begins

The second phase of Bishwa Ijtema, the second largest congregation of Muslims, began early today on the banks of Turag river at Tongi on the outskirts of the city, BSS reported.

The Ijtema began with ‘Aam Bayan’ (general sermon) by eminent Islamic scholars after Fajr prayer and will end with Akheri Munajat (last prayer) on January 22.

The government has taken adequate security measures ahead of the second phase of Vishwa Ijtema.
