Although residents informed local councilors about the problem, no anti-mosquito program has taken place in the city so far. The city residents allege that despite living in the city, they have to face various problems throughout the year. They suffer from water logging during monsoon and now they are suffering due to intense mosquito infestation and air pollution.
Hashem Sarkar, a resident of Chandana Chowrasta area of Ghazipur Municipal Corporation, said that earlier mosquito control programs were conducted regularly in the festive atmosphere. However, programs are not being organized right now. As a result, city dwellers are troubled by the severe outbreak of mosquitoes these days.
Ghazipur Municipal Corporation does not have adequate drains and no specific place to dump garbage. As a result, city residents are throwing garbage here and there arbitrarily, thereby polluting the environment. And these places have turned into breeding grounds for mosquitoes.
