President Volodymyr Zelensky, who was on a working trip to Sweden, posted on Telegram, “A Russian missile hit our Chernihiv right in the middle of the city. A square, the Polytechnic University, a theatre.”
“An ordinary Saturday turned by Russia into a day of pain and loss,” he said.
A short video accompanying Zelensky’s post showed debris strewn across an intersection in front of the regional drama theatre, with parked cars heavily damaged. The video also briefly shows a body slumped inside a car.
