“He (Shakib) had a good batting session yesterday,” Hathurusingha said. He also did some running between the wickets.
“We are awaiting the results of the scans conducted today.
“We have not tested his bowling yet. We will assess him tomorrow morning and take a decision,” he said.
“If he’s not ready to play, we won’t take the risk. If he’s ready, he’s likely to play.”
But he later suggested that Shakib would also have to have some input into the decision after a “green or red light” from the medical staff.
“The player is given the option to play the game or not if they feel it is not risky,” Hathurusingha said.
“It’s up to the captain and coach whether they want the player or not and whether he is desirable in one or both disciplines.”
