Formal charges have been framed against former Narayanganj-4 MP Shamim Usman, his son Ayon Usman and 10 others in a case related to alleged crimes against humanity in Narayanganj during the mass insurgency in July.
Opening statements and witness testimony in the case are scheduled for June 10.
The order was passed today, Wednesday, by the three-member International Criminal Tribunal-1 led by Justice MD Golam Murtuza Majumdar.
The other members of the tribunal are Justice Mohammad Shafiqul Alam Mahmood and Justice Mohammad Mohitul Haq Inam Chowdhury.
The 12 accused in the case include several family members and relatives of Shamim Usman, including Azmeri Usman, Mohammad Minhaj Uddin Ahmed and Tanveer Ahmed.
All the accused in the case are currently absconding.
