Situation in Myanmar: Peace remains near the border, schools reopened

Confirming the development, Naikhongchari Primary Education Officer Triratan Chakma said the situation on the Myanmar side of the Ghumdhum border is now peaceful. Therefore, schools that were temporarily closed on Monday have reopened and officials are closely monitoring the situation.

Bandarban Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shah Mojahid Uddin along with District Superintendent of Police Saikat Shaheen is scheduled to visit the border area on Wednesday to observe the situation. Earlier, Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) visited Ghumdhum border.

Public representatives of Ghumdhum said that there are three guard posts and camps of Border Guard Police (BGP) on the other side of the zero line at Konopara, Tumbru, Bashfundi. No gunshots were heard from the scene that day, but the situation could worsen at any time.
