Senior prosecutor Sultan Mahmud Simon and prosecutor Tapos Kanti Baul presented the case for the prosecution, while advocate Gazi MH Tamim, as the state-appointed defense counsel, defended the fugitives.
The first tribunal framed six charges of crimes against humanity on December 5, 2018, and began recording statements of witnesses on February 18, 2019. The court examined a total of 19 witnesses in the case on different dates of hearing.
