Though the USA and South America are facing worst covid-19 onslaught, South Asia may soon emerge as a new coronavirus hotspot, warns International Red Cross Society. Everyone has concentrated on American continents. But Bangladesh, Pakistan, and India may soon become the new hotspot. This is the most densely populated region in the world, one-fourth of the world population lives here. Already more than ten lac people are infected in India. On an average six hundred people are dying every day there.
Many said, hot and humid climate of South Asia may not be suitable for coronavirus. Initially, with strict lockdown India almost contained covid-19. But like other South Asian countries, India is one of the poorest countries of the world so they had to ease restrictions on economic considerations. The disease spread. India has become the third most infected country in the world. Megacities like Mumbai and Delhi are already coronavirus hotspots.
India with a population of around 1.3 billion has imposed restrictions again. Western Indian state Goa has imposed three days shut down and imposed night-time curfew till 10th August.
Official data form all the South Asian governments are showing unusually low death rates and low testing rates against per hundred thousand people. Many local and foreign experts are fearing a devastating onslaught a few weeks later.
