Spielberg’s ‘Disclosure Day’ rocks the box office

Inde Navarrete has earned particular praise for her leading role as a young woman who becomes hopelessly infatuated with a man played by Michael Johnston after he expresses magical desire for her.

Third place went to Paramount’s reboot of the “Scary Movie” parody franchise, which earned US$14.5 million in its second week.

A24’s horror film “Backrooms” finished fourth with US$11.3 million, bringing its domestic total to US$160 million after a record-breaking debut two weeks earlier.

The film is based on the viral YouTube series from 20-year-old director Ken Parsons and has now grossed over US$262 million at the global box office on a budget of just US$10 million.

Starring Oscar nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor and Renate Reinsway, the film tells the story of a furniture store owner (Ejiofor) who discovers a mysterious, labyrinthine complex beneath his store.
