Sufferings for the homebound people

The second largest Muslim festival Eid ul Azha and largest Hindu festival Durga Puja are to be observed nearly same time this year. This has created immense pressure on the highways of the country. There are usual rush of homebound people of Hindu and Muslim both community and cattle loaded trucks form different parts of the country especially from the northern districts are heading towards the capital.

Hundreds of vehicles were stuck on gridlock on Dhaka – Tangail highway today. Police said many drivers of vehicles are not obeying the traffic law; police is also blaming large number of speed breakers and level crossings on the highway for the tailback.

Earlier the Jamuna Multipurpose Bridge authority stopped their repair work on the bridge yesterday after receiving request from police. A lane of the bridge was closed due to the repair work. This created a tailback on the bridge yesterday.
